New Year
Dozens of kids were partying for the New Year at Kai's House. They laughed, played, and ate.
"Huzzah!" Haruka yelled. "Only one more hour left!"
"So you guys have any New Year resolution?" Marco asked.
"Try and get less annoying fan girls?" Kai said.
As everyone talked more, ate, and did whatever else they did. Taiki was looking off out the window. The Last Day before Winter Break, clear as a crystal.
Flashback
"Hey Taiki!" Raine greeted as she and Lil walked over.
"Huh? Oh, hey Raine, Lil."
"Hey Taiki, do you know that kiss of the New Year Tradition?" Lil asked.
"Huh? No. Why?"
"It's how you're supposed to kiss the closest person to you when it's the New Year. I bet you Alex would like that..." Raine whispered, leaning into Taiki's ear.
Taiki's face turned into a tomato right there. She quickly shook her head and the blush disappeared... kinda.
"What? Raine don't be crazy!" Taiki said.
"Then what's that blush for?"

In retrospect, I should have just ran away after that...
Taiki looked as everyone was having a good time, but something was off. The party was missing a certain blonde.
Where's Alex?
Taiki let a sigh escape her lips as she stood up from the couch. No sign of Alex.
Maybe she's outside...? Wait, why am I wondering?
Taiki shook her head and sat back down on the sofa. She felt another sigh come out and rested her arm against the sofa's arm.
Man I need some air!
Taiki quickly walked out, dodging partiers and Kai's dog. She ran out back to the pool and breathed in the cold air.
"Taiki?"
Our favorite brown hair girl nearly fell over at that. She turned to see the very same person she looked for earlier, sitting in front of the pool.
"Oh sorry, did I scare you?
"No, no. Just surprised, that's all... Why are you out here?" Taiki asked, sitting on the ground next to her.
"I needed some air. You?"
"Me two... Un air, that is..."
Don't say anything stupid!
"Hey Alex, have you ever heard of the New Year's Kiss thing?" Taiki blurted out.
DARN IT!
"Huh? No, why? What is it?" Alex asked.
"It's just this stupid thing where you kiss the closest person to you on New Year's Day...."
"Oh? Sounds nice."
"Yeah, it does."
IDIOT! You just said it was stupid!
"TEN!"
Alex and Taiki turned around to see everyone begin counting to the New Year.
"NINE!"
"EIGHT!"
"Hey Taiki?"
"SEVEN!"
Alex moved closer.
"SIX!"
"Uh... Yeah Alex?
"FIVE!"
Alex moved closer, and Taiki slowly mirrored the actions.
"FOUR!"
"THREE!"
"Happy... Happy New Years."
"TWO!
"Happy- MPHH!?"
"ONE!"
Fireworks shot out as Taiki and Alexs lips touched. Taiki felt her whole body explode and shake. She tried to keep her eyes opened as Alex's closed hers, but her eyes went spiraling trying to. Finally she closed her eyes and what felt like hours, but only minutes were shared.
Finally the moment ended and the two backed away.
"Uh..."
"Um..."
"Wow..." Taiki finally whispered.
"Yeah... Wow..." Alex agreed. "Never knew you were such a good kisser..."
"Youre really good two..." Taiki whispered.
"Um... Thanks, Taik- MPH!?"
Taiki stole a kiss right there. Without even thinking, more like reflexes then a thought out action. She quickly pulled backed, blushing.
"Alex! I'm sorry!"
"You should be..." Alex whispered. "You ended it too soon..."
"I... What?"
Alex slowly put her hand on the other girl's cheek and Taiki's hand moved as well. Taiki's moved and touched Alex's cheek.
"Happy New Year Taiki."
"Happy New Year Alex."
The two shared another kiss, both blushing, but eager to lock lips. One thought going through both of their minds.
