2.me and a bunch of friends wanted to start a GLBTS club the princple denied it saying that they did not need a club like that

okay folks i might not be smart and i may not understand a lot but i know this is wrong and i dont see why why this happening.
do they not see that we are humans too we are nop diffrent form them except in ways but i have feelings just like everyone else its just...........

If a teacher said that to you, that's considered verbal harassment. As long as you're in a public school, it's illegal for a teacher to pick on people because of their sexuality, even if it isn't true. You should report that to your vice principle, and if he refuses to do anything, you can sue the school for a sum of money. =] Good luck! I'm doing something like that right now, so...

If you really want to start a GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance), and the principal refuses your request, then there is a group of lawyers that are willing to sue both for sexual harrassment and to force your school into allowing a club where homosexual students can come together. I read this article a while back where the same thing happened, verbal harrassment and all, and the student sued the school system.

It's a thought, and I'll try to find the article again online (it's been a long while) so I can get the name of the organization for you. Besides, it's an imformative read that might help. Hope that school gets better for you.

Mmm, I don't know if that's a good idea. Many people who get their GED don't get it for a LONG time. =/

This may sound kind of stupid but what's a GED?

And try starting a GSA in a high school with only 300 people where over 200 are homophobic.

Try living in a town known as Horsetown, USA (AND it's in California). 299 people out of 300 are homophobic.

And a GED is a General Education Degree. It's what you get if you don't graduate from high school and study for HS graduation elsewhere.

LOL, crap, I thought it was Good Enough Degree! xD;

Yeah, the percent of homophobes out here are about the same. The only people who support are like, Fag Hags.

=/ Butttttttttttttttttt, I have a lot backing me up on starting an annual day os silence and still working for a GSA.

Wish me luck!

Rah!! *supports*

Also, if it's a local option, there are Cyber Schools available in some areas/states (I'm enrolled in one PA-wide) that count as high schools, so you get a real diploma rather than a GED. It's an option, eh?

Yep thats what my GSA did when they first started, :D good luck!

I also agree with other when they say that you should sue the school, our high school has well over a thousand students and most of them are homophobes, I'd say roughly about 15% of the school doesn't care about wether or not you like the same gender. For a while we thought we couldn't a GSA up in our school, fortunately we had a few teachers who support it and they backed us up completely, convincing our principal to accept the club.

That doesn't go to say that a lot of other teachers still dont harrass us about our sexuality.

I would also like to add that we did a survey to see if anybody actually cared if there was a GSA in their school, and thats how we got some of the teachers to help us out.

Teachers harassing you about your sexuality? That's just horrible! Teachers are meant to be kind of role models, aren't they? Graah, that's evil!! D:
My school's fine with it, mostly. People talk about their sexuality in class discussions and the teachers don't care. Your schools are in America, right? Most people are Christian there, so that's probably why. I live in Britain, in which less than half the population is religious. Unfortunately, I decided to take Religious Studies as an option, which kinda attracts the fundamentalist crazies (both Christian and Islamic, both of which religions condemn homosexuality) and those people just want to spout about how their beliefs are better than others... the first class discussion we had in that lesson was on the topic of homosexuality, and it was horrifying! I was pretty much the only person speaking up in favour, the rest were saying stuff like 'if I was gay, I would gouge my eyes out'. Not good. I just went home that night and cried.
By the way, I have nothing against religion, it's fine if it's just that you love God, but you shouldn't subvert love of God in order to spew hate at innocent people.
(/very long slightly off-topic essay...)

Hahahah, Selkieskin, that's all fine. =]

As for religion, I think it's usually only the insanely hard core Christians in the US who are homophobic. The rest of the homophobes are atheist and agnostic; go figure. What are we going to do,hit on every one of them? O-o;

Darkside, get backed up by GLSEN! =D They'll make everything possible. They gave me a lot of support when I thought that no teacher would help us.

Annnnnnnddddddddd, Doesn't Cyber Schooling cost money? =@

Nope, well...at least the ones I know of don't (outside of internet connection, that is, but there are usually reimbursements offered by the school, and mine gave me a laptop for school).
Mine (and probably a fair few others) is a public school, so tuition is covered solely by taxes~

Edit:
Pennsylvania, US, State-wide: Http://www.pacyber.org
California, US, looks about the same system and policies as mine: http://www.caliva.org/faqs/index.html

Anywhere else, you can just google it and swap CA with your state or country or province: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cyber+school+CA

well Score one for my Home State here WA. Most of here is accepting of the GSA in schools. As for the G.E.D. it was ment for people who wanted to Test out of High School to start College, but now it is looked down on rather than as an equal to a HS Dipolma. As for taking a long time took about a week for me to get mine.

But for the Religion thing it is Hilarious that they even say things like that considering it was just Paul I believe that condemed Homosexuality in the Bible. Sodom adn Gormora was destoried because of the over all Sins in the Cities. No where else in there it says anything about it as far as I can remember. Most people Fear the unknown and to most people being GBLT is an unknown to them and therefore fear it.  It is sad yes but that is the way it works.

Darkside you did the right things by trying to bring everyone together and promote understanding and unite. For that you have my Congrats and please keep trying to do that. Just remember to be safe and don't let this minor set back get you down.  There is Right and There is Easy. Right is very rarely easy unfortuantely.
