JoCo

ggaaah I really haven't been looking forward to this...
for months I've been meaning to make a post about JoCo but
I wasn't really sure how anyone would react so I kept it to myself

JoCo is a singer/songwriter who is in my opinion one of the finest artists to appear in the last 30 years. others may disagree but since when have I cared?

His music is best left unclassified but if I had to pick I'd go with "nerd rock"

many of his songs will make you laugh the first time but that doesn't mean they're gimmicky to the point of only wanting to hearing them once

he never lets the funny get in the way of the music or vice versa which is a concept I wish other artists would pick up on.

Anyway I'm short of time so I'll post some music videos later

Update: Videos Posted

Code Monkey

Note: I like this video theres another one I like more but it fits better with the ones that are to follow

The Future Soon

Re: Your Brains
[youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=BjMiDZIY1bM]
Note: This was a hard pick cause it was spiffs first video but the song was worth it

Mr Fancy Pants
[youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mu71EAdnjQ0]
Note: another hard pick becuase the song is pretty hit or miss but the video makes it work

I got to see Johnathan Coulton play at PAX over the weekend - then, "Skullcrusher Mountain" wound up as this weeks Downloadable Content for Rock Band!

I'm definitely impressed with his music and song writing.

I saw him a few months back at the birchmere it was a fun evening
unfortunately this was at the height of portals popularity so far too many people
were wearing companion cube t shirts for my taste but still fun!
Paul and Storm opened with Opening Band as usual then they sang of pirates and nuns til
Jonathans turn came around and man it was great.

He's like the nerd's version of Bob Dylan all acoustic and guitary and whatnot! Fun music!

I finally got a cord extension so that I could plug my earphones into the computer and still have them reach my ears: sound on the computer at long last!

And thus I was able to actually listen to the videos  you posted -- JoCo is really good, and I have to thank you for introducing me to his music.

Thanks, but there is essentially zero chance that I would be able to go to a live show, partly because of work and expense constraints, but mainly because the few live concerts that my wife and I go to are those where we are both enthusiastic, and her taste in music does not completely coincide with mine (though fortunately there is a large overlap).
