@__@...I did not know this before...but when I think about it, you seem right to me...the americans are always looked upon as the 'good' in such games, while other nations, sucha as russia, china, japan, etc seem to always be the 'bad' ones...

And more I learn about itn worse it is. I learnt that in CoD6 there a mission where we have to free a prisonner of a russian goulag !! And the game is supposed to be set nowadays ? Do they know that there is not goulag anymore in Russia since many years ?

But it is true that Russian jails' conditions are not better than former goulags' ones.

The only moment where you play a russian is for killing civilians in a russian airport. And that is supposed to be the best game of the year ?

hmmm dunno in the call of duty series there is always a lot of killing russians and germans .... well in the one before modern warfare dunno about the chinese.

but i think the reason these games make america look like the good guys i cuz they are american made games.

WTF who gets the idea to make a game where you just slaughter random ppl

actually you are playing an undercover CIA Agent trying to get close to this terrorist
it is explained that the russian is a terrorist with no loyalties or ideologies outside chaos
but your cover is blown and the russians kill you

Edit 1: This was incredibly poorly written

MW2 allows you to play as a British Agent as well in fact my favorite levels so far is one of the ones where you play as "Roach"

now I'm not saying you're wrong

but most of these war games are made for an American audience... there are 3 major "Zones" that video games are sold... the Americans (USA, Canada), Europe, and Asia (Japan, S. Korea)

The Asian Market doesn't buy FPS's all that often so they can go jump in a lake for all the publishers care

and as much as I hate to say it Europe (from my perspective) gets left outta the mainstream loop a bit (later release dates and so forth)

so in the end you have a game made for an American target audience

and Americans (Agian from my perspective) usually believe we're on the moral high ground
and that anyone who has disagreed in the last 100 years or so is our enemy.

We had the cold war with the Russians and China is still technically communist so Americans see them as the "Bad" guys

now I know this isn't a good thing and I'm really ashamed of that attitude in my country
but in the end what sells is what gets made and that's capitalism for you.

To judge the game on it's merits as a game and nothing else the game play is solid and fun to play the graphics and immersion are high quality. thats what made the game popular enough in the first place not the controversy surrounding it. so I'll say the same thing about it that I say about GTA. "it's a good game despite the obvious attempts to piss people off in an attempt to MAKE MORE MONEY"

Thank you for your precicions, Doc. But I am still disgusted. I don't say this game is bad. The graphics are so good that we may think it's a movie. But anyway when there is some prejudices in games or in films, it always piss me off.

I learn that russians refuse to sold this game. they will censored the part of the misson we were talking about. it is understandable.

When I read some gammers forums, there is some comments that say "that mission is so great to play" and then they say "but can make the difference beetween reality and fiction"...I hope they can.

Prejudice is something that will sadly never disappear it's human nature. I do think the movie and video game industry's are prejudiced at times but on balance but I it puts them on a level pretty average for probably the rest of the world.

I always hear from my friends from other countries about how racist and backwards my country is... how we like our guns too much... how we don't like soccer enough... how we've failed to get universal health-care... I could come up with 100 other examples

but we're no more messed up than anyone else

I really dont get how killing random ppl that dont fight back can be great to play........... then again i never played it, I dont think I ever will either.

..... how is not liking soccer bad ......................... I really dont like it specially the profesionals i think they get way overpaid i mean its 22 milionaires running after a ball....

anyway i dont think human stupidity is ever gonna stop to be amazing. Its just how humans are: once you think it cant get any worse you will be amazed by something you didnt think anybody would come up with.....(amazed in a bad way)

ooh and Doc, thats human nature to thinking someone else is messed up worse than they are. ^^

As I said before I do not hate Americans but American media makes so much prejudices... French medias also does, I think.

As said Descartes "Intelligence is the thing the most shared in Humanity." ... stupidity too!!

And it is soo easy to criticize other people than oneself.

PS Can someone do something for the spams in the video games section, please ?

hehe i think the intellegence is debatable

and by spam you mean the many topics about copying ps3 games that no one responds to ?

its kinda funny how everything that i talked about here ends up as a philosophical debate on humanity ^^

and i have to add to my previous post: there are some ppl who defy nature and think they are more messed up than the rest =D

...but I agree on the intelligence/stupidity thing.
I think there is a thin line between the stupidity and the intelligence; you have to balance on that line though, for there is no such thing as a person of pure intelligence, you have to acknowledge that all creatures also hold 'stupid' in them (though it might not be much at all, it is still there)

And about the messed up people thing... I think that people who understand that racism, homophobia, fascism, sexism,... are vices for the Humanity can not be that messed up.

i never said philosophy is bad ..... i like it a lot(nearly every conversation i have turns philosophical^^ would be bad if i hated it) i just said its funny how everything turns into a philosophical debate.

oooh btw i think that the messed up thing is sort of a point of view ..... because those ppl who follow the masses probably think im messed up for not wanting to be part of the masses and i kinda think its messed up to want to be the same as everyone.... so its a point of view thing.d =)

things never will be easy well most things wont be. but some of them are fun because of the callenge. well and philosophy would be kinda boring if you knew th awnser right away ........ its more fun to think about something that doesnt really have one true awnser it will give ppl stuff to do for hours without really achieving something but still thinking they did something usefull ^^
(this is also very debatable ..... or a point of view thing =D )

wow serously the videogame section is filling up with all kinds of junk.
