What do SNES games have to do with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl? They're for the Nintendo DS.
Anyway, I wish I owned a DS and just one of these titles. I love Pokémon. My mom gave me Red and Blue for my 13th birthday and I've been a fan ever since.

So, my brother just got Pokemon Battle Revolution and the thing I like most about it is the fact that you can customize your own trainer's looks. Very spiffy.

OH? Not a fan of Floatzel? Well, I guess when there's nearly 500 of the critters, people can find favorites.
I've seen a lot of people use REALLY GOOD Flygon in battle - training for speed, then giving them a Choice Scarf to make it EVEN FASTER. I battled one guy who taught Flygon Dig before the last evolution - so that when Flygon used Dig, instead of Earthquake being a guaranteed KO, Flygon's Levitate ability would make the move miss!

Since it's immune to Ground attacks through Levitate instead of being a Flying type, Roost is basically a free 1/2 HP healer at no cost. Helps make up for the life loss from Life Orb, and Flygon stick around longer.
And I got nuffin' gainst Floatzel. NOW GARCHOMP don't even get me started.

A nasty build for them is a set up - if not with Tyrannitar, which is frowned on, then Hippowdon... which has the Sand Stream ability anyway!
And Ground/Dragon is a type combination you'd think would be avoided like the plague, but that landshark just gets all sorts of play, especially at GameFAQs...

I was never able to get into WoW though. Probably because I was playing Diamond at the same time - and now, I'm playing through on a copy of Pearl I bought used at GameStop. :P
D+P never did that to me. Maybe it's because while I can get the metagame, I cba to get into the metagame.
And I loathe WoW. In fact MMORPGs are a big turn off for me. Real ones anyway. .hack// kicks serious booty.
To keep me hooked an RPG needs characters, plotline, all that luvly, juvly good stuff.
And tbh, no matter what Pokemon does, compared to SMT, it is nothing. Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call(Nocturne for Americans) is the quint-essential monster, demon, angel, dragon, fairy and just about everything else raising RPG. Name me another game(barring SMT I, II and the Persona series) that lets you say you used a party of Beelzebub, Pixie and Dante from DMC to defeat God. =p
Persona 3 is close. In it you can say you used Jesus to beat on Death itself, or used Satan and Lucifer to kill everything EVER.
Though back to Pokeyman.
I happen to love the Ground/Dragon combination(especially with Levitate bonuses). I just loathe Garchomp, because, well it basically replaced Flygon.
I'm that damn petty. Same reason I hate Infernape is because it basically replaced Blaziken. But dy-amn that power feels ga-hood on my Diamond version.
For future referance, my 3 favourite Pokemon are Blaziken, Flygon and Gardevoir. Don't ask why, don't ask how. Just face their firey, psychicky and dragony wrath.

OH MAN... I loved Nocturne SO SO MUCH... and P3 is GLORIOUSLY AWESOME...
BUT, like you pointed out, this is a pokeymans thread!
I'm just sad at the lack of fire types - the water types tend to be made cooler than the fire types... and even in D/P, until you beat the Elite 4, you can get Ponyta! ...or Chimchar! ...And that's it, unless you trade for another fire type.
That said, I'm hopelessly addicted to pokemon, and will probably get the third game in the D/P series on day one.
It was annoying, I always like to have a Fire/Water/Grass trio in my team, but I hated the Fire starter and I don't like Ponyta.
In my Pearl version I just taught my Palkia Flamethrower. But now I've transfered ol' Zel the Blaziken onto my Pearl I have no issues. He of course came with Nylf and Ro my Gardevoir(tg I taught her Shadow Ball in my Emerald version ready for DP, saved me a lot of time.) Zel still needs work and so does Nylf but Ro was pretty much set with Psychic, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball and Calm Mind.
In my Diamond version I just chose the fire starter and washed myself with pumice...hate the thing but there's no denying it's powerful...

All information is ALLEGED until confirmed by Nintendo, but here's what a japanese gaming magazine is saying, via Serebii.net:
* Pokémon Platinum, set for September release. Giratina on the box * Volkner no longer gym leader of Sunyshore City * The Underground is now Wi-Fi enabled * An island called Battle Island, works in the same manner as the Battle Frontier * Several new Pokémon 'forms' exist in the game; Giratina's Origin Form, Regigigas' Sky Form, Shaymin's Another Form
This is all good and dandy - ESPECIALLY the Underground thing - but I'm really kind of hoping for a few things... like, I want it to be harder. Ruby and Sapphire were fairly easy, but Emerald was such a step up in difficulty that I actually had to grind in a way I hadn't done outside of an Nippon Ichi game for YEARS.
But, its early - Nintendo also made mention recently of wanting to do "near simultaneous worldwide releases" - and then stuck to that with Mario Kart Wii and will do so again with Wii Fit... but, the UK still doesn't have Smash Brothers Brawl. This said, for us in America, we could be playing Pokemon MORE before the end of the year if this is true.
Giratina Origin Form has been confirmed for a while, but now confirmed to be in Platinum.
The rest is still not proven.
As if Giratina couldn't get any more satanic, he now transforms into a snake. 'Nuff said. He's still awesome though.
On the grinding thing, I always grind in Pokemon games. I have a set level for each Gym(9/10 equal to or 2 levels higher than the Gym Leader) and I stick to it. Makes Gym Leaders a cakewalk. On other games, really? I'm surprised that you didn't need to grind in some of the Megaten games.
Hell all I do in P3 is Social Links, then grind on the no-time-limit training night pre-Full Moon, then repeat. At least for now. Since I've maxed my Social stats and finished the Tower Social Link I may start going to Tartarus on random nights.

For people who may not be able to link through while at work or school or whatever, this is the official US Pokemon tournament entry forms - they've outlined their rules on the website, and to even go, you've also got to successfully pass a prequalifier exam online.
If you get past all that, its a 2v2 Battle tournament; with teams of four pokemon that must be naturally level 50 - there'll be no level scaling, so, anything that evolves beyond level 50 along with a majority of legendary monsters is banned from competition.
And this weekend sees the Toys R Us Darkrai event! WHOO!
I missed the Manaphy event, but hit the Mew event they had a couple years back...
I like going to these events, but I'm usually the oldest guy there. On one hand, I kinda feel like "the elder statesman of the pokeymans" but on the other hand, I think to other parents, I must look like "The crankiest most unsuccessful pedophile ever."
