Roller Coasters?

So what's everyones opinion on roller coasters? I myself am a big fan of them, though I used to be terrified of them when I was younger due to a very tramatic experience with a carnival ride. >.<

Haha I would have probably been like you if it wasn't for the fact I live near the "Roller Coaster Capital Of The World". So I had to learn how to love them.

So many Coaster Chickens! o.O;;;    [Edit: uhh, just wanna be clear, this term dun mean anything but a blanket term for people who don't go on rollercoasters or don't enjoy them, regardless of experience or lack of it. My use of it carries no negative connotations, 'kay?]

I'm a HARDCORECOASTERLOVER. Classic older wooden ones (the ones that slam you from side to side, even!), the fancy-dancy upside-down ones or feet-hanging ones, and most especially (ugh, my grammarsense wants to kill me for that) the classic up+up+up+up+up=DOOOOOOOOOOOWWWNNNNN!!! ones; the higher the drop the better!

I LOVE rollercoasters. LOVE 'em.

-My mom was/is a coaster chicken (we even found a pin that says so!) but I got her to go on one one year--she's still not a fanfan, but she'll go on one or two~

-I'm pretty sure my sister is as big a coasterfan as I am, but I may be mixing people up.

-My one friend Josh was a coasterchicken, when I went with our friends and his family to the local park (Pgh's Kennywood! heart.gif ), we (my, our friend Jojo, and his crush/gf were the main driving forces) managed to get him on and I think he loves them now...Though he skipped out of a line for one earlier, so I had to chase Jojo down when he groped Josh's crush/gf in the line....'by accident', he claimed...fun fun adventures...I need to track down Josh, haven't seen him in forevers...

Butyeah, I'm a massive coasterlover, if any of the coaster-inexpierienced from this board are in Pgh, track me down and I'll introduce you to the best beginner's coaster EVER, the Jackrabbit!

It's one of the most fun classic coasters I've ever been on, and there's even a doubedip, but!:
-it doesn't shake you up too much,
-you can see exactly how far you're going down on every drop,
-you sit double so you can have a supporter with you/to cling to during it,
-and nothing boosts a coasternewbie's spirits like little kids riding in front and back of you. The Jackrabbit's height minimum is low, but there's no top limit, it's a ride for all to enjoy! ^_^

From there you can 'levelup' your coaster spirit and gain some experience with other coasters of your choosing, and it always helps to have a friend there with you!

Afterword: Of course, I have no problem with people who don't wish to get on even a single rollercoaster, and wouldn't ever force anyone onto one...that said, they are very fun, and in my opinion, one of the ways to help against bad memories is to overshadow them with good ones! So I try to convince people to at least give the 'Rabbit a go, and leave the path from there up to them.

-LT

Its reaaally weird, but I have a fear of heights, yet I can ride the same roller coaster twenty times in one day.

@Nobody: Ah that's one of Cedar Point's names, I'm not to sure how its chosen. I kinda think it might be self-given, but they do have a lot of the better coasters.

@Graves: O.o Reminds me of when some little kid was sitting next to me on the Top Thrill Dragster and forced me to allow him to cling to my arm.

@LadyTwilight: w00t another roller coaster junkie! Around here our beginner coaster was in Geauga Lake/Six Flags (name change) and it was called the doubleloop. But you've heard of Cedar Point, right?

@Schlaf: One of my friends is like that, I tend to find it oddly creepy.

\/\/007z! *l-l ! 6  - l-l |= ! \/ 3*

I've been to Cedar Point twice...once when I was really young, too young to ride on anything or remember any of it (really, I just have my mom's word that I actually went) and once as part of a school trip for chamber chorus, which was mad fun, even if my pack only got to ride, like, 1/4th or so of the stuff there, if even that much. I totally wanna go back.

Most of my rollercoaster exp comes from disney and universal studios 'n stuff down in florida (grandmother has timeshare there, we go like once/2 years. One time involved me, a loose rug, a big mean wooden pamphlet holder thing, and a concussion. but we managed to catch the plane without having to go to the hospital. I think.) Also, I went with a school trip to...uhh...is it six flags? It's...the one park with like 9 country-based areas with a big lake in the middle. That place had AWESOME rides. I lost, like, $8 dollars in change that trip...

Edit: the smileys kept eating up my leet!

It's really hard to hit all the main coasters in one day honestly, because of course you're gonna want to ride some of the thrill rides. Though you can hit all the major coasters and some of the better thrill rides on a Sunday when less people are there, and oddly enough Wednesdays are good for that too. And my family is going to be attempting to go to Disney more this Summer since my brother was working there for a bit and now has the benefit of taking 3 people to all the parks 3 times. I don't know about Six Flags though, theres a whollllleeeeee bunch of Six Flags parks.

Hahah, honestly, I'm a coward. Once whenI was a kid, I went to Connie Island. (Enough of an explanation all ready).

Anyway, it's an old wooden one, and I LOVE old wooden ones. But, I'm thin as hell and they only have a small bar over your lap. In short, I almost slid out of the bar while going down a drop and was holding on for my freekin life. XD;

I'm fine with giant drops and wooden ones (I LOVE WOODEN ONES) but I'm terrified of upside down ones. Not the ones that spin you around, but the giant loops. Ah well, I'm working on it. =]

Coaching advice, anyone?

I love roller coasters, but I'm always paranoid that my shoes/glasses/wallet/etc will fly off mid-ride and hit myself or someone else.

Hmm I used to be pretty terrified of loops and spinning. (Darn carnival ride and my shortness!) I just kinda went from one loop, to two loops, and then I just went for one that crazily turned you upside down at many points. (Though I can't stand free-fall thrill rides! =0) And as for stuff flying out, don't you get something to put your stuff in? and when your feet are dangling don't you have the option of taking your shoes off?
