People being silly. People are all silly, they just don't like it being pointed out, like assuming that everyone is the same orientation. Do you mean people doing bad things? Or people angry that they were wrong?

Yes it's silly, but this was before i kind of came out without knowing it was bad to do so. Classmates i didn't mess with or have ill will with, were disowning me or didn't want to be known as a friend of a shy lesbian. (they're first time and mine with some kind of homosexuality.)
It was only when i went to junior high that i started seeing the hate on people that didn't need it.

Ouch, this is why, unfortunately, I'm not comfortable being out with everyone at school. Depending on where you live, people may or may not get better about it as you get older. I hope college is a cooler place. Doh well.

The thing i can't get is why some kids in my high school want to know if your gay or straight so they can pick on you. It's not enough that your not out and careful.

If you feel ready for it, then just tell them the truth when they ask, and say it just like you would assume someone would say they were straight (or perhaps as if asking you if you're straight is an insult to you xD).
Whatever you do, don't act or show you expect to be bullied about it, just show that you're perfectly fine with and proud of being who you are, because most people don't bother bullying you if you don't show a reaction, they might even be afraid to do so.

Also: Only ONE person has ever said anything bad about my sexuality straight to my face.

I know it is not like this all places, but many bullies tend to stop when they don't get a reaction...just showing them one is not afraid may sometimes *scare* them off...I'm only speaking from my own experience of course.

I know that bullies kill just as many as the ones who stick a gun or a knife into someone elses head, but in many cases it may be harder to track them down because not all bullying is visible. A bad word too many can be a death sentence for someone else, but the person who uttered it may not think much about it at all. People are cruel, that is unfortunately a fact in this world we live in. Everyone has the potensial to be an ass, and many are. It can be hard to find those who do not want to hurt you in any way or the ones who can sympatize or understand you. Life is hard. For some more than others. I hate this fact, and I try helping from my little cornerpiece of the world, by trying to brighten peoples day even if all I can offer them is a friendly smile.

I have another friend in Bergen who has asbergers. I'm not really sure if the 'lack of understanding' of social norms is the beste way to put it, the way they do in medical encyclopedias, because it is really the mind just standing out in its way of thinking, which can result in interesting and really clever solutions to problems. Some idiots bully before trying to understand, which results in all the bad things. Why should someone be punished for thinking in their own way?

hmm i think ppl assume everyone is straight because its true most of the time and speaking about sexuality makes people uncomfortable thus its easier to assume things ..cant tell you why attitudes change when people find out that someone is not straight =/ but i think its because people like to put others in a box and when for example it turns out someone is gay that person doesnt fit the box anymore this confuses people into not knowing how to treat someone even though if you think about it rationally its the same person as before.

as for the asbergers(kinda unlikely but i also have a friend who has that =/ ) i do believe lacking understanding of social norms is the best way to describe it, this doesnt mean it cant be adapted to... and i guess its just a different way of seeing things: that friend of mine is much better at meeting new people than i am because he doesnt see some social boundaries he just starts talking to random ppl like he has known em forever.....

Oh, I have a small group of friends that are okey with being gay! There in my first period class. It's not alway talked about, but it's not in the wrong. One of my friends is straight and is writting a shoujo-ai fanfiction right now. She even tried to start a LGBT club at our school last year, but it was a no-go. If it was started i would have loved to see the tomboys and gay guys that would of joined. biggrin
